Hello everyone, I'm Rebecca!
I love summer - that very special light, the long evenings on the balcony, the feeling of the sun's rays on my skin... But hand on heart: when the thermometer climbs above 30 degrees, even the biggest summer fan can start to sweat - literally. And that's where my personal favorite fabric comes into play: linen. Cooling, light, natural - linen is not only super comfortable to wear, but also totally on trend.
In this blog article, I'll take you into the world of linen. I'll tell you why this fabric is simply unbeatable for hot days, what makes it so special, how you can combine it - and why it's not just a real fashion statement in summer.

1. what is linen actually?
Linen is a natural material made from the fibers of the flax plant. This plant grows mainly in Europe, which makes linen one of the most environmentally friendly materials of all. Compared to cotton, its production requires less water, no chemicals and less energy.
The result is a particularly robust, breathable and durable fabric that feels wonderfully cool on the skin. This is exactly what makes linen so perfect for hot days - more on this in a moment.
2 Why is linen the perfect summer fabric?
If you've ever worn linen, you'll know the feeling: it's as if a light breeze is caressing your skin. Sounds cheesy? Maybe. But that's exactly how it feels. Here are a few very specific reasons why linen is simply ideal for summer:
✨ 1. it has a cooling effect
Linen absorbs moisture extremely quickly - up to 20 % of its own weight - without feeling damp. This means that when you sweat, the moisture evaporates more quickly and your skin stays dry and pleasantly cool.
✨ 2. it is breathable
Thanks to its coarse fiber structure, linen allows air to circulate better than many other fabrics. No heat build-up under your dress or blouse!
✨ 3. it is antistatic and antibacterial
Linen does not become statically charged - so no annoying "stickiness" on the body. And thanks to the natural properties of flax fibers, linen even has a slight antibacterial effect. Win-win!
✨ 4. it is robust and durable
While many summer fabrics such as viscose or silk are delicate, linen is really robust. You can wear your favorite pieces wear for years - they often look even better the more often you wear them.
3. The linen look: casual, natural, stylish
Many people immediately think of creases when they think of linen - and yes, they are part of it. But that's exactly what makes linen so charming! The imperfect look is a statement of naturalness, nonchalance and self-confidence. You don't have to go through life perfectly pressed, but you can show it: I like it authentic.
And that is also one of the reasons why linen is currently so popular in the fashion world. Minimalism, sustainability and naturalness are on trend - and linen embodies all of this in one fabric.
4. how do I style linen correctly?
Linen is incredibly versatile. Whether for the beach, the office or a summer wedding - there's hardly an occasion when you can't wear linen. Here are my personal styling tips:
🌞 Casual: the relaxed look
A loose-fitting linen dress in beige or white, sandals and a raffia bag - and your summer look is complete. Or how about a linen shirt with high-waist shorts? Minimal, airy and super comfortable.
👩💻 Business: Linen in the office
Yes, linen can also be elegant. Wide linen trousers in gray or cream, combined with a blouse or a simple top, not only look professional in the office, but also summery and fresh. Add leather sandals or loafers - perfect!
💃 Elegant: linen for special occasions
A linen maxi dress with feminine details such as flounces, a back neckline or delicate embroidery is ideal for summer parties or weddings. With jewelry and fine sandals, the look is festive yet wonderfully airy.
5. Linen care - how to keep it beautiful
Linen may be robust, but it still needs to be treated with care. Here are a few care tips from my experience:
🧺 Washing
Linen loves water! You can machine wash it, preferably at 30-40 degrees on a gentle cycle. Use a mild detergent and avoid fabric softener - it can make the fibers stick together.
🌬️ Drying
Linen prefers to air dry. Please do not tumble dry - this can make the material brittle. It is best to hang your linen garments on a hanger - It even smoothes out a little as it dries.
🔥 Ironing - or not
Yes, linen creases. But that's the charm! If you want to iron, please do so at a high temperature and preferably while the fabric is still slightly damp. Or you can wear the look with pride - "fine creases" are all the rage
6. Sustainability: Linen as a green fashion fabric
What is particularly important to me personally is that fashion today can no longer just be beautiful - it also has to be sustainable. And linen is a real pioneer in this respect.
🌱 Less water, no pesticides
Compared to cotton, flax needs up to three times less water. And because the plant is so robust, pesticides are often not used - which is better for the environment and our skin.
🌍 European origin
Many linen fabrics are still produced in Europe - particularly high-quality linen often comes from Belgium, France or Lithuania. Short transportation routes and fair working conditions are therefore possible.
🔁 Durable & biodegradable
Linen clothing lasts a long time - and when it is no longer worn, it is completely biodegradable. A real slow fashion material.
7 My conclusion: Linen is love
For me, linen is much more than just a fabric. It is a feeling of summer, of freedom, of lightness. It reminds me of traveling through the south of France, of balmy evenings with friends, of that feeling of simply being myself - imperfect, but real.
If you haven't discovered linen for yourself yet, give it a try. Maybe start with a simple linen T-shirt or a pair of shorts. And I bet you'll feel the difference - and never want to go back.
